| My Journey Through The Game of Life |
|
Name: Danielle Siebner College Attending: Adelphi University Life is a game that everyone must participate in. Throughout life, one faces many changes and must be willing to adapt. It is sad to say, but eventually we must leave our childhood days behind and prepare for our future. Step by step turns into day by day, this is eventually replaced by year after year. Each moment is a crucial part in our journey and, therefore, should be experienced to the fullest. When I was a little girl, I always wanted to be like the big kids. I wanted to pal around with my older friends and cousins. Sometimes they acted cool around me and made it seem that I was not ready for the next step in life. Little did they know, I was. With chalkboards and markers, I was the teacher in my own “School”. I made up my own tests and homework, and assigned them to my cousins and friends when they came over. Desperate to take the bus, I was forced to wait because I was just too little. To make the time go faster I used my imagination. With grade books and bulletin boards I created my own classroom. I was the teacher, and in charge of all of these components. Without knowing, this was a preview of what was in store for me later in life: responsibility and my career. To feel at ease was sometimes what I needed. The best place to go when everything else was not going right was Anna Banana and Poppe's house. They always comforted me and made me feel at home. Common adventures included the park toy store, or McDonalds. These places were weekend routines. Consequently, I could not imagine my life without Grandma’s Wednesday night dinner. Spaghetti and meatballs was a staple in my diet. As countless years went on and times changed, so did my life. On Christmas night that year our lives changed forever. Day by day time went by hoping she would get better. At one point everyone kept saying “Sorry”. This took a while for me to understand as a young naive child. The way I found out what happened was when I didn’t go to her house that following Wednesday for spaghetti and meatballs. Overcoming this difficult time made me stronger, giving me a different outlook on life. Struggle is overcome by success, which is what I am hoping to achieve. Currently, I am in the middle of the next step in my journey. I am making important decisions that will have a serious impact on my future. It is said that college is the greatest four years of your life. To be successful one must live their “Life” to the fullest . The choices I make will take me to the next step in my journey. I remember the days when I was a girl, but now it’s time for me to move on. For now I continue through “Life” and embrace every memory, and live and love every moment that is ahead.
